About
Calling all parents and teachers of primary age pupils!
This maths resources site will be available for free until futher notice.
Who is it for?
It’s for teachers, teaching assistants and parents who are running maths intervention sessions.
What is it and why is it helpful?
It is a collection of interactive maths questions that allows sessions to run instantly without searching for and printing worksheets.
Grab your mini wipe-boards, select a question type and off you go.
How else can it be used?
It can also be used for the input or plenary sections of your normal lessons to check understanding.
Why does it exist?
Not every family can afford tuition so this is away to maybe make a difference to those who have the will but not the means to support their children with their learning. This project initially came about after seeing the impact of working with dry-wipe boards every morning with a class of year one students who made amazing progress in their “counting in [enter number here]” in less than two terms. It started off as a “pixel-free” number line and kept slowly growing to incoporate more features.
Why is it free?
It’s currently free because we would really love to collect stories about its effectiveness so if you give it a try - please drop us a message.
When will it stop being free?
This version will probably remain free but any updated versions will more than likely be released using a pay to use model.
Background
Thank you for visiting the beta version of the Urban Maths Intervention web-app. Please send any comments or bug reports via the contact form.
This project was, and continues to be, fuelled by the desire to make it easier for teachers and parents to support their students and children in drilling basic maths skills which will allow the students to overcome difficulties they may have later on in their school life.
"Children who struggle with their times-tables (or multiplication facts) find it tougher when doing other multi-step tasks which depend on this prior knowledge. They end up having to work slower than the children that do have this knowledge and this can lead to a general lack of confidence around numeracy tasks which is hard to overcome without direct intervention."
-- D. Smith (Primary Tutor)
Times Tables (Multiplication Facts) - Parental Intervention
The learning of times-tables doesn’t have to take long if the correct support is in place. Support in terms of resources and support in terms of a schedule and a supporting adult. This is someting that parents can easily do to support their child during their early school education that can make a huge difference to their child's experience and progress. This app contains a multiplication grid and an interactive times table app to make it possible for parents to support their children without the hassle of preparing any resources.
We hope you enjoy this resource. Once again - please feel free to send any comments using the contact form.
Thanks for visiting and happy supporting! :)
